The Federal Ministry of Power, Works & Housing in line with guidelines of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission plans to enlist a concessionaire to provide uninterrupted power supply of 750kw day & 75kw night solar power generation facilities on a commercial operation at Power House, Maitama. The project scope is on design, finance, build, operate, and transfer PPP model” says Engr. Chidi Izuwah the DG of ICRC .

Engr. Izuwah stated further that the ICRC worked with the Federal Ministry Power, Works and Housing to come up with a fast-paced PPP model for prospective concessionaires to come on board to provide reliable and uninterrupted power. He noted that the process which commenced in September 2017 had already culminated in a financial bid opening on the 12th of December 2017. He added that negotiations are expected to be concluded with the selected concessionaire before the end of the year and FEC approval and final PPP award is expected by early January 2018.

“This process sets in motion a strategic initiative to procure solar electric power from private developers across public buildings nationwide. Our PPP model here is get one right then replicate and copy same endlessly across Nigeria so we can use this rapid PPP model to harness the enormous renewable energy resources of our country and banish darkness from our Land”

“We are not finished yet but surely we will get to PPP commercial and financial close. Then design, finance, install, operate”.
